Digestopia > Golf > Golf Fitness < Article New Articles and Videos for May 31, 2007 A better golf game is achievable by any golfer. It doesn’t matter what your age is, how good a player you are or how long you’ve been playing. But the key to a better golf game may not be what you think. The fitness components for golf are a select few, but they are critical to a golfers success. The golf swing is a physically demanding movement on the human body. It involves coordination, balance, stability, muscular strength and endurance, and dynamic sequence of motion just to name a few. A core golf workout that produces a power golf swing is one that focuses on rotation. The primary movement in the golf swing is rotating your upper body back, then rotating it through to the finish. That is why it is critical you implement exercises that involve rotational strength and flexibility. For many years, one of the things I loved doing was watching the final day of golf tournaments on TV. As the day begins perhaps 8 or 9 players have a chance to win, but by the time they are playing the final holes this number has shrunk to 2 or 3. O.k., I thought I was going to be the one to break this next secret to you but the cat has already been let out of the bag with the June 2005 issue of Golf Magazine. I'm sure it's been written about in other articles and golf books before but this was the first time I'd read one about a non-pro golfer using a hypnotist for his golf game. Golf exercise is mainstream thanks to Tiger, Annika, Larry Nelson and all the top tournament golfers who are doing it and seeing fantastic results from it. The game of professional golf has transformed over the years. Many spectators, journalists, and pros themselves state that golf is now a game of power. Driving distance is integral to winning on Tour, club manufacturers gear much of their advertising around the “power game”, and it is a wish of most every amateur. Power golf exercises are a unique set of exercises that you do not do in a gym on machines, nor do you lift heavy weights. For that matter, you can do simple power golf exercises right in your home with minimal equipment.
